Abstract

The study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral counseling
program based on psychodrama in reducing social withdrawal behavior among hearing-
impaired children, and its relation to variables (child's gender, age, place of residence,
mother's education, type of impairment, and degree of impairment).
The study's sample size comprised 10 children registered at Al-amal(4) for the Deaf in
Wad Madani, Gezira State- Sudan, from September 2019 to December 2023. The
study's tools included primary data questionnaire, a social withdrawal behavior scale,
and a counseling program designed by the researcher. SPSS used to analyze data.
Tables and percentages used to illustrate results. The results revealed that the cognitive-behavioral counseling program based on
psychodrama was effective in reducing social withdrawal behavior among these
children, particularly in the post-application phase. There were no statistically
significant differences in the program's effectiveness based on mother's education; there
were no statistically significant differences in the program's effectiveness based on
degree of impairment The study recommended the activation of counseling and
psychodrama in schools for the hearing-impaired, and the necessity to develop curricula
suitable for this group.
