الملخص

The study aimed to identify the role of social media networks in combating hate speech and
violence (Facebook as an example). This was done by assessing the extent to which social media
networks, specifically Facebook, contribute to the spread of hate speech and violence, evaluating the
resulting effects, and examining the potential of these networks to combat hate speech and violence. The
researcher used a descriptive analytical method and a questionnaire as a research tool. The study
population consisted of faculty members and students at the Faculty of Education, Al Butana University,
Sudan, for the academic year 2022-2023. The study sample included 70 individuals, with 40 students and
30 faculty members ,The data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)
program. The study found that social media networks play a significant role in combating hate speech and
violence, with an average score of 4.3 and a very high rating. The study also found that the effects of hate
speech and its influence were achieved with an average score of 3.8 and a high rating. Furthermore,
social media networks have the potential to combat hate speech and violence, with an average score of
4.1 and a high rating. There were statistically significant differences in the average scores of the study
sample regarding the role of social media networks in combating hate speech and violence, which can be
attributed to the gender variable in favor of females. Additionally, differences were found based on the
attribute variable in favor of students. The study recommends increasing awareness about the dangers of
hate speech and violence.
