nothing. Therefore, the study aimed to investigate the importance of vocabulary
to EFL students at secondary level. The study followed the descriptive
analytical method. The data for the study were collected by means of a
questionnaire which was distributed to (50) EFL teacher and was analyzed by
using the statistical package for social science program (SPSS). The study was
conducted during the academic year (2021 - 2022) at Hasaheisa locality
secondary schools – Gezira state – Sudan. The study reached many important
results : Vocabulary is a problematic area for most students at secondary level.
Also most students fail to communicate because their vocabulary is not enough
besides the best way to acquire vocabulary is through the context. Based on
these results the study recommended the following: Teachers should help
students in explaining the meaning of vocabulary. Also students should pay
attention to the meaning and usage of vocabulary to increase their knowledge
of vocabulary and finally students should concentrate on the context so as to
learn new vocabulary from the context
