الملخص

This article gives an account of a paper aimed at investigating the teaching practice
and self-reflection of English as a foreign language teachers in Sudan) by means of
the professional development. At the initial stage, surveys, class observations, and
documentary analysis allowed the researcher to identify teachers’ professional
needs, as well as the areas that needed improvement. During the action stage, class
observations, informal chats, and a survey were used in order to reveal the impact
of the professional development. The paper investigated the following issues:
students' skills; levels of teachers' professional competence; teachers’ performance
and student learning abilities. The method adopted was a mixed method due to
the fact that it incorporated parts of both qualitative and quantitative approaches.
The sample used was taken from Wad Medani basic public schools. Findings
demonstrated that there is no training courses for the teachers because they haven't
enough budget, teachers must teach all kinds of curriculums (spine/smile). He
/She/must know the method of teaching, qualification and training This study
recommended that teachers should be trained. Teachers should use more
attractive methods and techniques to attract students attention. Teachers should
use ICT to motivate students.
