الملخص

The study aims at examining the use of vague language and weak
epistemic modality in Edgar Allan Poe's" The Tell-Tale Heart. The main
objective of the study is to analyze the use of vague expressions and
weak epistemic modality by the writer and how that has contributed to
the characterization and the undercurrent meaning of uncertainty in the
tale. The analytical method is used where the data is collected by reading
the text to collect words, phrases. The data is tabulated analyzed, and
conclusions have been drawn. The findings of the study show that the
use of vague language and weak epistemic modality help in reflecting
the mental status of the narrator's and in creating the atmosphere of
mystery and uncertainty.
