Abstract

This study aims to define prayer and clarify the concept of prohibited actions within it. The
importance of this research lies in the fact that prayer is a divinely prescribed act of worship in
which nothing should be added; as such, additions may invalidate it or reduce its reward. Prayer
is the pillar of religion. The researcher adopted an inductive method, collecting material from
original sources, referencing Qur’anic verses and authenticating hadiths and narrations. The
research addresses the problem that prayer is the first deed for which a person will be held
accountable; if it is sound, all other deeds will be sound, and if not, then otherwise. Many
Muslims are unaware of the correct way to perform it and have introduced prohibited practices
out of ignorance or negligence. The study highlights these to educate and raise awareness. It
concludes that prayer requires proper conduct, including cleanliness, avoiding harm to others,
observing prohibited times, and refraining from actions like excessive movement, turning away,
or preceding the imam
