الملخص
The study aimed at identifying the library and information services
available at the University of Gezira Libraries and investigating the current status
of marketing library and information services. The study used the descriptive
analytical method by two techniques survey and case study. The study was
conducted on a sample of fifty (50) librarians working at University of Gezira Libraries. A questionnaire was a tool used in collecting data. Data was analyzed
using (SPSS) statistical program. The study revealed that the library and
information services available at the university libraries are: lending services, interlibrary loan, document delivery services, reservation services, on-line information
services, and referral services with an overall mean for the axis of services available
at the university libraries of (2.03) and an estimated degree (Agree to some extent).
There is no marketing for any of the library and information services provided by
the university libraries as the general mean for the axis of services marketed by the
university libraries was (1.59) with an estimated degree of (Disagree). The study
recommends improving library and information services at the University of Gezira
Libraries, adding new services to the list of services provided and using modern
technology to provide them. applying the concept of marketing at the university
libraries in order to increase the effectiveness of library use and raise the efficiency
of performance to achieve the library’s goals.
