الملخص

The study was entitled compositional request techniques in the Poetry of
Zuhair bin Abi Salma. The study aimed to trace the compositional request
techniques in Zuhair’s poetry, and determine the extent to which they were
achieved and expressed in its components. The study followed the descriptive
analytical method in tracking phenomena and techniques, and extracting and
analyzing the request techniques from evidence which requires analyzing and
linking each evidence to its context. The study came out with several findings
of which the poet Zuhair was able to deal with all the request techniques for
most of their purposes, from command, interrogative, prohibition, call, and
wish. His use of the interrogative and command styles was frequent, and his
use of the prohibitive style was limited, while he used the techniques of
invocation and wish very rarely compared to the frequent occurrence of
interrogative and imperative. The study offered some recommendations of
which studies should be conducted dealing with pre-Islamic poets with sound instincts, such as Zuhair and Labid bin Abi Rabi’ah, and others who used
signs that indicate their knowledge of Allah, or those which contain values
and ideals approved by Islam.
