الملخص

This study addresses the topic of sin in Christianity and Islam. It aims to identify the issue of sin, its components, the viewpoint of Muslims and Christians, and to identify the deviations of Christians regarding it through comparative study, and the impact of this on the first life and the hereafter. The study examines the consequences of sin according to Christians and Muslims, exploring the perspectives of followers of both religions on the concept, characteristics, and outcomes of sin. Among its key findings, Christianity views sin as an inevitable consequence and a punishment for disobeying divine commands. They believe that Adam's sin defiled the entire earth, and that Adam was condemned for it. And upon his descendants after him, through toil and hardship in this life and through death. Christians believe that God, in His love and mercy, has made a way of salvation, and that Christ is the mediator who reconciled God's love with His justice and mercy. Thus, the union of justice and mercy, through the mediation of the only begotten Son and his acceptance of atonement for sin, saved people from it. Muslims believe that Adam and Eve, peace be upon them, ate from the tree and committed a sin. This sin is the reason for their descent to Earth. The descendants of Adam have continued to confront Satan until the Day of Judgment. This is not the sin of Adam, as Christianity claims. While Christians believe that the transgression originated with Adam, followed by his repentance and divine forgiveness, Muslims believe that the sin was committed by Adam, followed by his repentance. All that remains is satanic temptation and the evil inclinations of the soul, for which there is a corresponding remedy from the Lord of the Worlds. As for the myth of sin and atonement claimed by Christianity, it has no basis in Islam. I followed a comparative approach by defining sin in both religions, and an analytical approach by examining some interpretations and commentaries and delving into some of the sacred texts of both faiths.
