الملخص

This study addressed semantics as a linguistic aspect. The problem of the study
was conducted on investigating lexical semantics errors of undergraduate students
in Faculty, of Education at Sinner University in English language. The importance
of the study was to find possible solution to avoid committing more errors while
translating the meaning from English language to Arabic language ,and improving
the standard of the targeted students in semantics .The objectives of the study
were, to find methods that enable, university students specially ,under graduate at
faculties of educations ,to develop their skills in meaning translation from English
language to Arabic language , also to enlighten those who are specialized in study
English language towards the importance of semantics as linguistics aspect while
translating from English language to Arabic language . The study, adopted the
descriptive analytical approach and (SPSS) program used for data analysis. The
study reached to many results , the most importance were : there are errors
committed by undergraduate students while translating , meaning from English
language to Arabic language due to the cultural differences between the learners’
language and the targeted one . Understanding the contextual meaning of the
conventional statements helps in accurate translation and avoids the ambiguity
while translating meaning. The study recommended the following: that
undergraduate students should increase their knowledge about the source language
to avoid committed errors, literal translation and depend on the contextual
meaning, the method used by the university teachers will be more effective if they
mix the theory with practice in the same lecture which enable the student to
acquire information.
